KazMunayGas Signs Contract for Exporting LNG to China from the Gate LNG Terminal in Rotterdam, Netherlands

On the 9th of August 2019, KazMunayGas signed an agreement with JUSDA Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (JUSDA), a Foxconn Technology Group Subsidiary that is committed to providing leading supply chain solutions to customers through advanced technology, with regards to rendering logistic solutions in transporting Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), including the use of LNG ISO Container.
By using intermodal containers, KazMunayGas will ship LNG directly from the Gate LNG terminal all the way to the end-users in China, which will create a lot of flexibility in meeting urgent demands especially during wintertime.
Transporting LNG as a containerized cargo means there is no need for investment in export and import LNG terminals. Through this, LNG can be transported by sea and by land.
By 2021 China is projected to become the world’s second-largest LNG importer. The Chinese government is stepping up its efforts in combatting air pollution and LNG imports have more than tripled in the last six years.
Over the past few years, Chinese companies carried out trial runs with LNG exporters in Australia, Canada, Europe, and the US, opening potential import routes for small-scale LNG.
The expensive logistics, small-scale nature of seaborne containerized LNG and high procurement costs at Asian reload facilities are concerns that could impede this trade flow.
